Chance joins Independent business team
FORMER Reuters bureau chief in Korea, David Chance, has joined the Irish Independent as a business journalist specialising in economic affairs.
Mr Chance joins the business team after a 20-plus year career with Reuters.
In his last post, he was economics editor for the Americas, overseeing coverage of the Federal Reserve as it managed the post-crisis recovery, the US economy and President Trump’s trade wars.
Before his spell in Washington DC, Mr Chance was bureau chief in Korea as Reuters led with coverage of the death of KIm Jong Il and the rise to power of his son Kim Jong Un. In addition to a series of nuclear and missile tests that set the world on edge, he also reported on life inside North Korea.
Mr Chance previously served as bureau chief in Malaysia and Hungary, having started life as a correspondent covering emerging market economies.
Born in Liverpool, he is married to Niamh and they have two children.
