Prof­its more than dou­ble at Usit Ire­land

A SHARP re­duc­tion in staff costs at Usit Ire­land last year con­trib­uted to pre-tax prof­its at the travel com­pany more than dou­bling to €849,158.

Ac­counts filed by Usit Ire­land Ltd show that the busi­ness en­joyed the sharp in­crease in prof­its as gross rev­enues de­creased by 8pc, go­ing from €19.2m to €17.7m in the 12 months to the end of Oc­to­ber 2017. The firm last year paid a div­i­dend of €1m to its par­ent firm while the num­bers em­ployed de­creased from 98 to 69 with staff costs re­duc­ing from €3.38m to €2.8m.

The num­ber en­gaged in sales and op­er­a­tions re­mained the same at 61 with num­bers em­ployed in ad­min­is­tra­tion re­duc­ing from 37 to eight.
