Prices re­main strong for all types

the gen­eral run was €84-98 over the weight for good qual­ity lambs. Ewe hoggets reached a top price of €154/hd, while wether hoggets made €50-80 over.

En­nis­cor­thy had its big­gest sale of the year this week, with 2,500 sheep on of­fer. Prices im­proved by €2/hd on the pre­vi­ous week for spring lambs and hoggets. Spring lambs sold for € 122-145 (€ 84-96 over). Butcher and fac­tory hoggets made €124-145 each (€78-88 over). Store hoggets sold for € 90-125 (€ 65-82 over), ewe hoggets made up to €150/hd, store ewes for feed­ing made € 35-70/ hd and heavy culls com­manded prices of €90-157.

Black­face moun­tain ewes sold for €65-95/hd at Maam Cross, while cross­bred ewes made up to € 130/ hd. Ewes scanned in-lamb sold for €105125 and ewes with lambs at foot made €140-181.

Ewes with lambs at foot were the big sell­ers at Dowra Mart on Satur­day, where 850 sheep were on of­fer. Four young ewes with pairs of lambs at foot made €240-300, while ewes with sin­gle lambs made €140-220 each.

Mount­bellew Mart re­ported a brisk trade for spring lambs and cull ewes. Top price for the young lambs was €144 for 52kg, while cull ewes made €73-153.

Spring lambs weigh­ing 3035kg at Balt­in­glass Mart made up to €105. Hoggets from 4550kg sold up to €145/hd, while well-fleshed cull ewes sold up to €125/hd.
