Store prices surge ¤40/hd

STORE prices rose by up to €40/hd in some marts this week as North­ern buy­ers and lo­cal farm­ers bat­tled for stock.

Mean­while, de­mand for beef types re­mained ex­tremely strong ev­ery­where, with fac­tory agents de­ter­mined to se­cure stock fit for slaugh­ter.

Brisk trade is gen­er­at­ing strong de­mand for suck­ler cows with calves at foot. Sixty Li­mousin cows with Bel­gian Blue calves at foot sold for an av­er­age of €2,020/hd in En­nis Mart.
