A NEW board elected for LacPatrick Co-op last week has seen the return of some familiar faces to represent shareholders in the Cavan-Monaghan district.

The five representatives on the 15-man board from the old town of Monaghan catchment area are Bert Stewart, Andrew McConkey, Christy McKenna, Gerard Sherlock and JJ Lavelle.

Stewart is well known in IFA circles and is current chairman of the association’s animal health committee.

He was in danger of losing his seat on the board under new governance structures proposed by LacPatrick earlier in the year.

However, the changes were rejected by the co-op’s shareholders in June and fresh board elections were called under amended rules. The ballot took place last Tuesday, with Smith regaining his board seat.
