Health and safety inspections ramp up

Irish Independent - Farming - - NEWS -

HEALTH and safety bosses are beginning a two-week campaign during the lambing and calving season with 400 farm inspections planned.

Inspectors will focus on safe handling of livestock during the campaign.

Martin O’Halloran, chief executive of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), said that planning work with safety in mind is particularly important at this busy time of year.

“During what is now a more concentrated calving period, fatigue and increased stress levels are almost inevitable,” he said.

“However, some early planning can make a significant difference.”
