Hot Wheels release

RORY Gallagher fans are in for a treat with the release of Wheels Within Wheels on vinyl for the first time.

This fantastic 14-track collection of acoustic lost recordings and out-takes was originally released on CD in 2003. It showcases the legendary Irish guitarist’s incredible versatility across the blues and folk genres. It also highlights Rory’s dexterity in the flamenco, skiffle and traditional Irish music styles.

This year is the 70th anniversary of Rory’s birth and a Remembering Rory exhibition is now running at the City Library in Grand Parade, Cork, until August 31.

It also marks 40 years of the Cork City Music Library named in Rory Gallagher’s honour.

Earlier this year President Michael D Higgins dedicated the boardroom of the Fender guitar headquarters in Dublin to Gallagher ( right) at an official ceremony. “I have an image in my office of Rory playing with Phil Lynott in 1982 in Punchestown,” he revealed.
