“If you have a pe­dome­ter or an ac­tiv­i­ty­track­ing de­vice, that will count your steps and it will kind of hold you ac­count­able,” ex­plains Casey. “You’ll be look­ing at it and hop­ing to im­prove it.” You don’t need to splash out on a fancy new gad­get. “Every smart phone has a health app in it and that will track your step count on a daily ba­sis. Ninety per cent of the pop­u­la­tion is us­ing smart phones. It is in­trin­sic within mo­ti­va­tional be­hav­iour that those kind of things do work.”
