A cookbook with a difference — to help people gain weight — has been produced by the HSE. Dietitian Dr Sharon Kennelly said the recipes in Making the Most of Every Bite are targeted at the 145,000 people in Ireland who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition.

Rapid, unplanned weightloss can be detrimental to health. Maintaining a healthy weight can be difficult for people experiencing conditions such as cancer, Crohn’s disease or dementia. It can also affect older people living alone, and those who are undergoing treatment such as major surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.

HSE professionals can order copies of the book at healthpromo .Itis important that members of the pubic discuss with their doctor, nurse or dietitian if this cookbook is appropriate for them.
