There’s a smor­gas­bord of events of every imag­in­able kind to whet your cul­tural ap­petite at Water­ford’s Imag­ine Arts Fes­ti­val, from Oc­to­ber 19–29. One of the high­lights will be Antigone, the An­cient Greek play by Sopho­cles, per­formed within the walls of Water­ford City. The Writ­ers’ Week­end el­e­ment of the fes­ti­val will wel­come au­thors such as Sally Rooney, Ste­fanie Preiss­ner ( right) and Paul Howard to town, and it’s im­pos­si­ble not to get ex­cited about the ‘Bat­tle of the Blaas’ — a fam­ily-friendly event set in a post-apoc­a­lyp­tic war zone fea­tur­ing ‘blaa-ttlers’, flour, eggs and you.
