How will Max get Jane out

SoapBox used to think Claudette Hub­bard was the Square’s true ter­mi­na­tor, con­sid­er­ing she sur­vived a fall down the stairs and be­ing buried alive in her own base­ment, but that was be­fore Jane Beale (Lau­rie Brett, above with Jake Wood as Max Bran­ning) re­peat­edly came back from the brink.

The un­beat­able Mrs Beale has cheated death more times than your av­er­age bear, in­clud­ing be­ing shot in the stom­ach by Steven, blud­geoned by Bobby, and — most re­cently — be­ing left to burn by Max af­ter Steven de­lib­er­ately started the restau­rant fire. To an­swer ‘why’ Max wants to kill Jane, well — put the ket­tle on — we’re go­ing to be here for a bit.

Max was falsely im­pris­oned for Lucy Beale’s death when, in fact, young Bobby hit his sis­ter over the head and Jane thought it best to dump her step­daugh­ter’s body in the woods, spark­ing an end­less hunt for the teen’s mur­derer. Ian and Jane (and sev­eral other res­i­dents) let Max take the blame.

Need­less to say, this didn’t sit well with Mr Bran­ning. As luck would have it, he met Luke while in prison. A
