Irish Independent - Weekend Magazine - - Tv Highlights -

RTE One, 6.30pm

During the dark years of the Second World War, Ireland’s lighthouse keepers acted as an unofficial coast guard, keeping details logs of the various comings and goings, from sightings of German submarines to the horror of civilian ships being torpedoed and attacked. They saved lives, and played a pivotal role in historical events.
