CLASSIC ALBUM REVISITED

Irish Independent - Weekend Review - - FRONT PAGE -

The former Johnstons and Planxty singer was steeped in trad but this second solo album offered a huge departure. Sophisticated pop was his new thing and the Tyrone man showed how fine a songwriter he was. The title track — inspired by Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Baker Street’ — is a highlight, but ‘Crazy Dreams’ and ‘Nothing But the Same Old Story’ would be worthy entries to any Great Irish Songbook.
