Bert Jan­sch and John Ren­bourn were two of the gi­ants of the English folk re­vival in the 1960s and they re­cruited some of the genre’s finest ex­po­nents when es­tab­lish­ing Pen­tan­gle, in­clud­ing vo­cal­ist Jac­qui McShee. This ex­quis­ite al­bum boasts sev­eral mar­vel­lous tracks, in­clud­ing the sitar-led ‘Once I Had A Sweet­heart’ and a stir­ring cover of the Jaynetts’ ‘Sally Go ’Round the Roses’.
