BAXTER DURY

Prince of Tears (Heavenly)

Irish Independent - Weekend Review - - FRONT PAGE -

Five albums into his career and Baxter Dury can truly begin to feel that he has emerged from the shadow of his late father, Ian. His latest is his best yet — a 10-track effort weighing in just shy of half an hour and boasting one captivating song-vignette after the next. He creates some remarkable characters — including the odious narrator in ‘Miami’ — and he’s delivered some top tunes, including ‘Oi’, which wouldn’t have been out of place in his dad’s back catalogue.
