The young Mem­phis singer is an out­stand­ing new tal­ent and al­though this sec­ond al­bum is more or­nate than her bril­liant, bare-boned de­but, it’s still got plenty of mo­ments to stop you in your tracks. ‘Ap­point­ments’ and ‘Sour Breath’ are be­witch­ing med­i­ta­tions on a ro­man­tic re­la­tion­ship that’s gone aground while the win­try, pi­ano-led ‘Claws in Your Back’ demon­strates not only what a fine song­writer she is, but what re­mark­able vo­cals she has, too.
