Frampton confirms McGuigan split

-

EDDIE HEARN is understood to be leading the chase to sign Carl Frampton after the former two-weight world champion yesterday parted company with Barry McGuigan’s Cyclone Promotions stable.

The Belfast fighter released a statement confirming that he is throwing in the towel with McGuigan who has been unavailable for comment on the split which was rumoured to be imminent since earlier this month.

The status of Shane McGuigan, Barry’s son, as Frampton’s coach is unclear.

“I would like to thank Barry, the McGuigan family and Cyclone Promotions for our time together. Having taken time to consider my future and discussed it with those closest to me, I am confident that now is the right time to move forward and take my career into my own hands.”
