‘It’s all about the games’
Mother-of-four Kellie Kearney really gets into the Halloween spirit in the weeks leading up to October 31. There’s the customary visit to Tayto Park for its ‘spooktacular’ rides as well as seeking out the perfect pumpkin for the children to carve over the mid-term break.
But as far as the kids are concerned, there’s nothing quite like Halloween day itself when they get to go trick or treating on the street of their estate in Tallaght, Dublin. “We just go to neighbours that we know, or if other people have their lights on and Halloween decorations, we’d call to them too.”
The mother of Kellie’s partner Joe also hosts a Halloween party for all the grandchildren. “It’s all about traditional games and the kids love it,” she says. “And there’s a bonfire across the way that they get to see from their Nanna’s house. I don’t want them to go too near bonfires — it can be dangerous, especially when there’s antisocial behaviour
