MUNSTER SCHOOLS SENIOR CUP GLENSTAL are into the Munster Senior Cup final for the second year running after a comprehensive semi-final victory over Crescent College at the Markets Field.

Out-half Ben Healy led the way for the Co Limerick school with a flawless display that saw him score 15 points.

Glenstal didn’t take long to get going with a Healy penalty putting them in front after four minutes and he then played a major part in their first try moments later.

Healy opted to kick a penalty wide to Ronan Quinn, who raced away from the Crescent defence. After the forwards sucked the opposition in with some powerful carries, Quinn was on hand to touch down in the corner for a try that Healy superbly converted.

Crescent’s response was swift as Conor Phillips’ excellent break paved the way for Jack Madden to open their account. John Hurley added the extras to reduce Glenstal’s lead to three.

Glenstal were soon on the front foot again, however, as Andrew Hogan intercepted in midfield and stepped inside Phillips to run in under the posts.

Healy added the straightforward conversion and then a 48-metre penalty to put Glenstal 20-7 in front at half-time. A Hurley penalty gave Crescent hope of a comeback when the game restarted but Healy responded with a huge drop-goal from 45 metres.

Mark Fleming’s try then put the seal on an impressive win against their Limerick neighbours and a place in the final.
