McNamara best in Cork test

-

MONKSTOWN professional Cian McNamara beat freezing conditions to claim the Munster PGA winter series event at Cork Golf Club.

The former Junior Open and South of Ireland champion shot a oneunder-par 71 for his second win of the series, turning in two-under par thanks to birdies at the second, third and eighth.

His only bogey on the front nine came at the index one-fourth and while he also bogeyed the 10th, he finished with eight pars to win the Cobra-Puma sponsored event by a stroke from Waterville’s David Higgins.

Former European Tour player Higgins also teamed up with his brother Brian and father Liam to win the team prize.
