DUBLIN’S O’SULLIVAN SET TO MISS REST OF LEAGUE

CIAN O’SULLIVAN is expected to miss Dublin’s remaining two Division 1 league matches after sustaining a shoulder injury in Sunday’s win over Kerry.

The Kilmacud Crokes man left the field in the second half with the shoulder requiring support but manager Jim Gavin gave an upbeat prognosis, stating the player had “a range of movement, which is very positive”.

Further tests were expected to determine the extent of O’Sullivan’s injury.

Meanwhile, Patrick McBrearty (above) could miss Donegal’s remaining Allianz league matches against Monaghan and Donegal after jarring his knee, an injury that forced him out of Saturday night’s match against Tyrone.

But McBrearty’s injury is not thought to be serious enough to keep him out any longer. Donegal are one of five teams that could conceivably finish on six points in Division 1A if a sequence of results were to happen. It would require Monaghan losing their last two games to Donegal and Dublin, Donegal beating Monaghan and Mayo, Mayo beating Tyrone, and Tyrone beating a Kerry team that had themselves beaten Kildare.

Kildare still have a mathematical chance of surviving but would require a healthy boost to their score difference to prevail in a three-way tie on four points.
