‘I don’t care about criticism’ – Neymar

- Rob Harris

A GOAL, an assist and infuriating a worldwide audience and the opposition – just another World Cup day for Neymar (right).

The Brazilian superstar was the key man in their 2-0 win but there was no doubting who Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio was talking about, even if he didn’t mention his name.

“We wasted a lot of time because of one single player,” he said. “I think this is a real shame for football, especially for kids who are watching because this has to be a sport of virility, of determination, a man’s sport, like other games, and not a charade.” Neymar was involved in an incident when he reacted in apparent agony to being stood on by Miguel Layun before being back on his feet moments later. But when asked, the PSG man rejected claims of cheating. “Look, I think it’s more of an attempt to undermine me than anything else. I don’t care much for criticism, not even from the press because in a way this can inf luence athletes. The last two matches I didn’t talk to the press because there’s so many people talking. I just want to play and I help my team-mates.”
