Fexco confirms 175 new jobs in major expansion of Kerry HQ

- Ralph Riegel

CO KERRY celebrated a major jobs boost with the confirmation that financial technology firm Fexco is to recruit 175 new staff.

Fexco will create the jobs over the next three years as part of a major expansion of its headquarters operations in Killorglin.

The financial technolog y company already employs 2,300 staff across operations in 29 countries.

Fexco ranks as one of the world’s leading financial technolog y concerns. Founded in 1981, it has steadily expanded thanks to its popular range of products, ranging from foreign exchange ser vices through to tax-free shopping systems and dynamic currency conversions.

The expansion at Killorglin is aimed at coping with ongoing international growth.

Enterprise Minister Heather Humphreys said it was “great news”.

“The economic growth of our regions through the creation of highskilled, sustainable jobs is a priority for the Government,” she said.

Enterprise Ireland chief executive Julie Sinnamon said Fexco was a hugely important employer.

“Fexco’s presence in the south-west makes an important contribution to prosperity at both regional and national level,” she said.

Fexco chief executive Denis McCarthy said the expansion was a significant development for the firm.

“Our plans to hire an additional 175 people for our Irish operations, based primarily in Killorglin, demonstrate Fexco’s commitment to this region, one synonymous with entrepreneurship, innovation and success in the ICT and fintech sectors,” he said.

“Those seeking new opportunities outside of the major cities can enjoy the benefits of our unique location, including access to a variety of housing, schools and third level institutes, social amenities, stateof-the-art transport infrastructure, significantly reduced traffic volumes and, of course, one of the most beautiful vistas in the world.”

He said Fexco was “inherently proud” of its success.
