Holmpatrick Cup in full swing
THE Holmpatrick Cup has been running for 86 years and it is now in full swing with Specsavers continuing its charity partnership with the National Council for the Blind of Ireland.
The trophy was donated by Edina Conyngham, Baroness Holmpatrick and a granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington, in 1932.
It is the longest running and largest charity golf tournament in Ireland with all funds raised going directly to the NCBI.
GUI-affiliated golf courses the country hold a qualifying tournament with the winners qualifying for the county final and compete for a place at the provincial tournament.
Speaking about the continued sponsorship, Chairman of Specsavers Ireland, Kerril Hickey said: “We are proud to continue our relationship with the NCBI, as they are the perfect partner for Specsavers.
“With over 54,000 people in Ireland living with blindness and vision impairment, we are delighted to support the NCBI in any way we can.”
