Friend calls for much more against Dragons

- Declan Rooney

CONNACHT host Dragons at the Sportsground tomorrow afternoon (5.15) in the province’s second last home PRO14 game of 2018. And Andy Friend’s side will be keen stop Dragons picking up their third win in four games against the western province.

Before that recent poor run Connacht had won seven in a row against the Newport outfit, but Friend knows his side will need to improve on last week’s showing against Ospreys to have any hope of victory against Bernard Jackman’s side.

“We can’t control what other people are thinking.

“What we can control is what we deliver out there on the weekend.

“There is probably an assumption that (we will win) and the difficulty with the Ospreys one was that the assumption was from within. The assumption was that we were going to win. Well, only if you play good footie and we didn’t.

“So we have said now dispel the assumptions boys and we have got to turn up. It doesn’t matter whether it is an interpro game here or another team sitting down the bottom of the table

“Whoever it is we have to do the same work for every team and we have got to become that team and what showed us last weekend was that we are not that team yet but we will become that team.”
