Beggan masterclass to prove doubters wrong
IT was hard to escape the feeling that Monaghan’s Rory Beggan went out to prove a point to people yesterday – and he succeeded.
Beggan’s selection as football’s AllStar goalkeeper – ahead of Dublin’s Stephen Cluxton – caused some controversy last week, but he certainly showcased all of his skills for his club Scotstown.
He kicked one beautiful longrange free and also sallied upfield to nonchalantly add a point from play in his 0-2 tally, as they beat Burren in the Ulster club quarter-final.
Beggan later tweeted: “Delighted to get the win for Scotstown today in the Ulster Championship. Don’t take this away from me lads!”
The keeper completed the tweet with a well-earned smiley face!
