Doherty goal denies battling Clonkill

BALLYBODEN overcame the absence of goalkeeper Gary Maguire, who was retrospectively suspended for an incident in the county final, to beat Clonkill in a thriller at Parnell Park, where Paul Doherty’s extra-time goal proved decisive.

After Clonkill had drawn level thanks to a goal from Luke Loughlin, Niall McMorrow scored what seemed certain to be the winner only for Brendan Murtagh to snatch an equaliser four minutes into added time.
