Plan of action

Business is a vast subject, with what can seem like an endless amount of content. Now is the time to get organised by breaking up your study into manageable chunks, perfecting exam techniques and maximising your marks, advises Yeats College teacher

- Shauna Mujic

Business is one of the most popular Leaving Cert subjects, with over 13,000 students sitting the Higher Level exam last year. It is interesting, relevant and provides students with an insight into the business world and how it works. From legislation to human resources, taxation, the Government, and Ireland’s over-reliance on multinational companies such as Google, there is a huge amount of knowledge to be called upon.

This is a text-heavy subject, but the H1 student is also required to demonstrate critical thought, the ability to mould what they have learned to the actual question being asked, and to exercise their own element of creativity in their answers, rather than just reproducing what they have rote learned. Weekly (and even daily!) revision is essential at this stage in the year. With mock examinations already underway in many schools across the country, the morning of 13 June is fast approaching.
