His tactics

The reality is I play with six backs, that’s the reality. On any given day you might find that something else crops up because you’ll react to what other teams are doing but you have got to be playing to what you feel is your best.

How Tipp paid for playing by rules

I don’t think Mick (Ryan) or the team stood a chance last year. There’s no way they could have managed to play three weeks of club matches in a row and look to roll on and rock into four weeks in a row of championship. That was an impossible situation.

Brian Hogan’s media silencing

I worked for the last number of years in the media. It was crossed wires. I would probably take responsibility for it myself, like.

The sliotar being thrown

We need to decide are we going to let people throw the ball or are they actually going to handpass because, OK, there might have been two frees given against the throw last Saturday. To me, if you watch that match back, I would say you could be up against six or eight so we need to decide what’s the ruling.”

How management has changed

It’s only when you saw John Kiely’s backroom team for the All-Ireland final last year, it was in the ‘Limerick Leader’, and you are thinking, ‘Jaysus like, I didn’t have that many when I was here’.
