Death of Irish Independent and racing journalist Noel Reid
FORMER Irish Independent journalist Noel Reid has passed away.
Mr Reid, who worked as a production journalist with the Irish Independent, was also an anchor for RTÉ’s racing coverage and horse racing was a huge passion of his.
He presented RTÉ’s flagship show ‘Saturday Sport’ and also worked on the Irish Independent sports desk before moving to news.
Mr Reid, from Dún Laoghaire, passed away in the care of his family and staff of St Vincent’s Hospital on Thursday.
A keen singer and gardener, Mr Reid is survived by his wife Marie, sons Alan, Paul and Robert and daughter Gillian as well as 11 grandchildren and his beloved sister Mary.
He is fondly remembered by his colleagues at Irish Independent and RTÉ.
A celebration of Noel’s life will be held at the Killiney Castle Hotel, Dublin on tomorrow at noon.
