Go Arsene – but do it with pride

-

NOTHING personal, but I’m hoping Arsene Wenger has even more to moan about after today.

I thought it was a bit choice the way he criticised West Ham for rolling over against Liverpool when his side had been given a bye from Stoke. I know that managers have short memories, but…

I’m really hoping he wins the FA Cup though. Not as a consolation prize, but as a way of giving himself a dignified exit from the club after all his incredible service.

I know plenty of people connected with the Gunners and the word definitely seems to be he’ll stay on for at least another year, maybe even two.

I think that is a mistake, a big one. As much as I truly respect and admire him, as much as I believe he’s been treated badly by the fans who’ve forgotten what he has done for the club, I still think his time has come. You see some of his decisions this season and maybe he’s finally losing his edge. It happens to the greatest.

For me, beating Chelsea in the Cup final is a way of Wenger going out with a bit of dignity and pride.

If he wins it then announces he’s going, listen for the deafening sound of praise for his genius.
