Trump won’t back cli­mate change fight

Don­ald Trump DON­ALD Trump re­fused to back a deal to tackle cli­mate change yes­ter­day.

The US Pres­i­dent de­manded more time to de­cide whether to hon­our com­mit­ments to re­duce car­bon emis­sions un­der the 2015 Paris Agree­ment.

It left Amer­ica iso­lated from the other wealthy na­tions at the G7 sum­mit – Bri­tain, Canada, France, Ger­many, Italy and Ja­pan.

Last night Friends of the Earth said Mr Trump was treat­ing the world with “ut­ter con­tempt”.

And 2,000 pro­test­ers ac­cused lead­ers at the sum­mit in Taormina, Si­cily, of ig­nor­ing the in­ter­ests of or­di­nary peo­ple.

The G7 row came as US of­fi­cials claimed Mr Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kush­ner tried to set up se­cret talks with Rus­sia. A-rod and J-LO
