on hol­i­day and my kids see me Skyp­ing they might say ‘hello’ and go off and then they’ll say, ‘did you have a good meet­ing?’. I don’t want them to think they go to school pre­par­ing them­selves for a ‘bad job’. I want them to know I go out the door with a skip and come back say­ing ‘I bossed it’. I work for a great team of women and they are badass. It is true that if you do a job you love you never work a day in your life.”

She cred­its her fa­mous bikini shower mo­ment in the I’m A Celebrity jun­gle in 2006 for turn­ing her life around. She says: “I planned to be a ses­sion mu­si­cian. I took a shower in a white bikini and ended up a model for Marks & Spencer for five years. Ev­ery­one thinks it was a strat­egy. But if I had known the power of that shower, I would have done it down Ox­ford Street years ago.” Hav­ing sur­vived the male dom­i­nated mu­sic scene, she hates the way suc­cess­ful women get called “bossy”. She says: “There is no dif­fer­ence be­tween men and women. You have to be direct. Say yes and do it. There’s a par­ody of how women should be in busi­ness – like a ball breaker.

“I don’t take no for an an­swer, but I’m not afraid to say ‘I don’t know’. It’s an­noy­ing a man can be a boss but a woman is bossy.”
