BHUTAN’S A BANKER

- BY RYAN MCELLIGOTT

BHUTAN can get punters off to a flying start as he makes his second appearance over hurdles in the opener.

This four-year-old was tried at Grade 1 level on his only previous outing over timber and he was eventually well beaten into sixth by Mega Fortune.

However, he did run better than his final position suggested against top-class juveniles.

On his only other racecourse outing he won a smart Leopardstown maiden on the Flat in the early part of last season.

He looks a jumper of promise and his yard is in tremendous shape.

The rest of the card is difficult, but the beginners chase can come the way of Pass The Ball.

He returns to Tipperary after an impressive handicap hurdle victory earlier in the month. The switch to fences should not be a problem as he has plenty of experience from the point-to-point field.

In the first of the handicap chases, Jack The Wire is a tentative selection as he returns to fences in a modest event.

Pass Hymn looked a promising sort when he made a winning debut in a Wexford bumper last month.

There should be more to come and he is chosen in the concluding bumper.
