Run-in just a Stormzy in a teacup for Idris...

George Michael was the man for Galantis

-

The Mercurys threw an impressive bash, with Sampha winning the prestigious prize for his debut album Process. But Idris Elba had an awkward run-in with Stormzy after accidentally calling him Skepta on stage. A fellow partygoer tells me: “Stormzy was not impressed and asked Idris how he could have got it wrong. They were pretty frosty with each other and a lot of the producers were trying to defuse the tension.” When I bumped into Idris, 45, he didn’t seem bothered and kept gushing about his girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre – a Canadian beauty queen. He tells me: “I’m very happy, I’m having a great time at the moment. She is incredible, she’s my girl.” Galantis have writted tunes for Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Madonna and they tell me the late George Michael had also been in touch.

The pop icon died on Christmas Day last year aged 53. Frontman Christian Karlsson says: “He reached out to us once but it never actually happened. It was in 2003, it’s a real shame it didn’t happen. He’s incredible.”

The band’s new album Aviary is out now. And they are already planning their next album while they tour at the same time. Respect.
