Ice and snow on the way

THE coun­try is set to be bat­tered by snow, ice and thun­der as tem­per­a­tures dip be­low zero.

Af­ter the rel­a­tively mild con­di­tions yes­ter­day, we’re set to shiver as the mer­cury plunges.

Tem­per­a­tures will reach -3C in places over the next three days with snow ex­pected.

A fore­caster said: “Win­try show­ers will move in from the west, turn­ing in­creas­ingly to snow overnight, es­pe­cially in Ul­ster and north Con­nacht.”
