written with her dad John and myself in mind. It’s like our journey.”

Ciara was the middle child of John and Eimear and sister to Barry and Jack.

Kodaline performed Love Will Set You Free and High Hopes at her packed funeral Mass two years ago.

The song Angel is the third track on their new album Politics Of Living, which is due for release next month.

The Dublin band decided on the title after visiting the family last year and spotting a sketch in the hallway of Ciara aged eight wearing a T-shirt with an angel on it.

In their first interview about the Kodaline at Ciara’s funeral forthcoming album last September lead singer Steve Garrigan, 29, revealed Angel was their favourite song on it.

He said: “It’s just the story behind it. We didn’t know until after. Our tour manager didn’t tell us when we were on stage. It knocked us back to reality.

“The only thing we could do was write a song about it. So we wrote a song and we went to visit the family and played the song for them.

“And then we said, ‘Look, we might put this on our album’ and they were like, ‘Absolutely’. It was really heavy.” Mrs Lawlor admitted today will be a difficult time for the family as a special Mass will be held for Ciara. She added: “Coming up to the second anniversary it’s emotional but not as raw because we’ve had such amazing support from family and friends. “The community in Kilkenny has been amazing. It’s lovely and it does help in some way. And all her friends will be at the Mass.” And she revealed the family travelled to Dublin for the recent Kodaline gig in Malahide Castle. She said: “It was very emotional, especially the last song All I Want because that was the song she was listening to when she collapsed. “It’s the song we used when we made the video tribute. “That was very emotional for everybody.” sylvia.pownall@irishmirror.ie Eimear and John Lawlor
