CITY FURY OVER KEOWN’S ‘SLUR’
MANCHESTER CITY have asked BT Sport for an explanation after pundit Martin Keown accused the Premier League champions of being guilty of “financial doping”.
Ex-england defender Keown, 52, was on live TV summarising City’s shock 2-1 defeat at Newcastle on Tuesday when he made the astonishing claim.
Etihad officials are angry the pundit’s potentially slanderous view was unchallenged, both during the game and in the post-match analysis. And Sunday Mirror Sport understands the matter has been raised with BT Sport.
City were shocked by Keown’s comments given he made no reference to his view when the club threw open the doors of their training ground three years ago for a newspaper interview.
City face Keown’s former club Arsenal today at the Etihad.
