‘Disappointing’ that St Mary’s Donore got nothing

Mid Louth Independent - - NEWS - BY HUBERT MURPHY RIGHT: The recent opening of the new St Mary’s dressing rooms recently, just part of ambitious plans for the Donore club in the future.

THE cathaoirleach of the Laytown/ Bettystown area council, Cllr Paddy Meade, has said that funding from the Town and Village scheme for a new playground in Lobinstown is vital.

The new facility has already secured €90,000 and the additional €32,000 secured last week will assist with ramps and other additions.

That will include welcome signs and work on a water bucket well. ‘It’s a great day for that area as it has had very little funding over the past number of years,’ he stated.

He said his aim for next year is to work with the St Mary’s club in Donore in securing funding for their ambitious plans at the club.

‘I am disappointed that they did not receive funding this time,’ he remarked.

‘It is something that I had to see addressed for next year. They do great work in the community and that warrants support under this scheme.’
