It is with Great Sad­ness, Cuchu­lainn Gaels has learned that one of our long­est and hard­est work­ing mem­bers, Rose­mary Jones, has passed away this af­ter­noon.

Rose­mary was a ded­i­cated com­mit­tee mem­ber and ran our club lotto for many years.

Huge con­grat­u­la­tions to the U14 play­ers and men­tors from Owen­more Gaels GAA Club who won the Féile Peile 2018 Div 8 Shield in Ardee to­day! They were a credit to their club and fam­i­lies all week­end and we’re de­lighted to see them go­ing home to Sligo GAA with sil­ver­ware.

It was great to see and hear the very vo­cal sup­port for Owen­more from the Coo­ley Kick­hams and Cuchu­lainn Gaels U14 play­ers, men­tors and sup­port­ers. This is ex­actly what the Feile ex­pe­ri­ence is all about - young peo­ple bond­ing and cel­e­brat­ing with new friends, hav­ing fun and cel­e­brat­ing their love of Gaelic Games.

Ba­si­cally Our lads were ex­em­plary, per­fectly be­haved off the field, re­spect and grit on the field. They done us proud.

I would like to con­grat­u­late Kevin Smith and Gerry Fearon along with the Féile com­mit­tee in run­ning a bril­liant spec­ta­cle in the penin­sula.

DUN­DALK GAELS

OUR bid for a se­nior cham­pi­onship win be­gins on Sun­day with a group match against Geraldines, Last year we reached the fi­nal only to be beaten by New­towb Blues. This year we aim to go one bet­ter.

Geraldines got their cam­paign off to a good start on Sun­day last with a one-point win over St Pa­trick’s, who we’ll be out against the week­end af­ter next.

We hosted a very suc­cess­ful Club To­gether Day re­cently where we wel­comed nearly 140 chil­dren from Ardee Monastery Boys School to our pitch in Bally­bailie. The chi­dren en­joyed a fun-filled day of Gaelic Foot­ball with our own club coaches and Louth GDA Karl O’Connor.

OUR onewall ju­ve­nile and adult hand­ball train­ing in St Marys Dioce­san school is go­ing very well and will con­tinue ev­ery Tues­day night at 7pm un­til fur­ther no­tice. Club play­ers and sup­port­ers wish­ing to pur­chase new hand­balls, gloves, eye­guards for their train­ing can do so by con­tact­ing any com­mit­tee mem­ber these items are also avail­able for pur­chase at Coke hall re­cep­tion. There will be a very im­por­tant com­mit­tee meet­ing at Coke hall next Fri­day night at 8pm all del­e­gates, play­ers, and sup­port­ers are re­quested to at­tend. The main item for dis­cus­sion is to up­date ev­ery­one on our club fundrais­ing pro­gramme. TRAIN­ING for all ju­ve­niles con­tin­ues this Fri­day night July 13 at the Fair­green from 7pm with the usual €2 con­tri­bu­tion still ap­ply­ing.

Our young U8 hurlers took part in a blitz at the Fair­green last Tues­day night play­ing games Knock­bridge A and Pearse Og. The Moninne panel was Luke Mc­Court, Grace Cairns, Orla Mc­Court, Ewan Mc­Court, Aoife Dow­dall, Oisin Maguire, Conal Cairns and Dy­lan Heaney.

Our se­nior team are through to the league fi­nal against Knock­bridge thanks to a hard earned 3-13 to 0-10 over Mattock Rangers in Col­lon last Thurs­day night. The Moninne scor­ers were Dar­ren Geoghe­gan (1-5), Ro­nan Geoghe­gan (1-4), Stephen Raf­ferty (1-1), John Martin (0-1), Fei­d­helm Joyce (0-1), Dar­ren O Han­ra­han (0-1).

On Satur­day a small panel of play­ers then trav­elled to Thurles to take part in the lo­cal hurl­ing tour­na­ment. They played games against Water­grasshill, Thurles Sars­field and Thurles Gaels.

Also on Satur­day sev­eral of our U14 squad were in­cluded in the Louth U14 Dev Squad that took part in a blitz at Cloghan. They beat Mon­aghan and Fer­managh be­fore los­ing nar­rowly to Ar­magh. The Naomh Moninne boys were Conor Whyte, Ciaran Walsh, Tadhg Dow­dall, Aaron McGuin­ness Smith, Sea­mus Reid, James Maloney, Matthew Maloney and Luke Haughey.

Next Satur­day July 14 our U13 team are fixed to play in the Div 2 Tain Og league fi­nal in Clones. Good luck boys.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Mar­i­anna Kier­ans Macari who played in goals on Satur­day for the Louth U-14 ladies team that won the Di­vi­sion 3 Le­in­ster blitz. She pulled off some great saves to keep Louth in all three games. Well done also to Lainey McCor­mack also played her part in this great win for Louth.

ST. Brides LGFC, hosted Scot­land, as part of Féile 2018, last week­end, 29th June -1st July. The Knock­bridge club were de­lighted to be given the op­por­tu­nity to pay back some of the hos­pi­tal­ity and fun ex­pe­ri­enced by the club on the five oc­ca­sions when they had rep­re­sented the County at Na­tional Féile, in the re­cent past.

On Thurs­day night the Scot­land team was wel­comed to Knock­bridge by the girls, par­ents and men­tors of the U-14 team.

Both teams were play­ing in Di­vi­sion 7, along with New­town Blues and Glouces­ter­shire. All teams played two matches on Fri­day and two matches on Satur­day. While nei­ther Scot­land nor the Brides fea­tured in the fi­nals on Sun­day, this did not de­tract from the

tremen­dous en­joy­ment and fun which was had by all on this very mo­men­tous week­end. A week­end of sport, fun, fam­ily and friend­ships was had by all, thus epit­o­miz­ing the Féile ethos and all that is good in Gaelic Foof­ball.

The Sean O’Ma­hony’s/ Na Piar­saigh/Dowdallshill U16’s had a great win over St Fechins last Wed­nes­day at Na Piar­saigh’s ground.

On Sun­day the Sean O’Ma­hony’s/ Na Piar­saigh/Dowdallshill U16’s lost out by just 2 points in a seven goal thriller to St Kevins/ Glyde Rangers/West­erns/Sean McDer­motts on the Point road, de­spite miss­ing many regulars.

On Wed­nes­day, July 11th, the Sean O’Ma­hony’s/ Na Piar­saigh/ Dowdallshill U18’s travel to Kilk­er­ley to face Kilk­er­ley Em­mets/ Naomh Malachi at 7.30.

Then on Fri­day the Sean O’Ma­hony’s U’12’s also travel to Kilk­er­ley to face Kilk­er­ley Em­mets at 7pm.
