Anger over drugs is­sue out­side schools:

PAR­ENTS of chil­dren at­tend­ing Ardee Com­mu­nity School were per­suaded not to protest in the vicin­ity of the school over claims stu­dents were be­ing sold drugs out­side the school grounds.

Supt Des McTier­nan con­firmed at last week’s Joint Polic­ing Meet­ing in Dun­leer that he met the school au­thor­i­ties and was ‘told about some­thing’ and they put an op­er­a­tion in place.

Cllr Dolores Minogue said she was aware par­ents were an­gry and she ap­plauded the fact that the school and gar­dai were han­dling the mat­ter.

‘We would urge peo­ple to al­ways con­tact us’, Supt McTier­nan added.

The drugs is­sue in mid Louth was raised by for­mer coun­cil­lor Hugh Con­lon who’said the drug deal­ing was ‘open’ with oth­ers stat­ing that there were is­sues out­side the schools and the play­ground in Dun­leer.

‘I would be alarmed if there was deal­ing at the Dun­leer schools’, Chief Supt Christy Man­gan stated. ‘If there is a prob­lem, tell us’, he added.
