Anger over drugs issue outside schools:
PARENTS of children attending Ardee Community School were persuaded not to protest in the vicinity of the school over claims students were being sold drugs outside the school grounds.
Supt Des McTiernan confirmed at last week’s Joint Policing Meeting in Dunleer that he met the school authorities and was ‘told about something’ and they put an operation in place.
Cllr Dolores Minogue said she was aware parents were angry and she applauded the fact that the school and gardai were handling the matter.
‘We would urge people to always contact us’, Supt McTiernan added.
The drugs issue in mid Louth was raised by former councillor Hugh Conlon who’said the drug dealing was ‘open’ with others stating that there were issues outside the schools and the playground in Dunleer.
‘I would be alarmed if there was dealing at the Dunleer schools’, Chief Supt Christy Mangan stated. ‘If there is a problem, tell us’, he added.
