IT WILL BE BRIGHTER THAN EVER THIS FESTIVE SEASON

-

New ROSS is gearing up for its brightest ever Christmas.

New Ross and District Chamber of Commerce has supplemented the festive lighting in town this year by adding €5,500 worth of new lights to enhance the initial €75,000 investment made by Wexford County Council last year.

The additional lights will be situated primarily in Rosbercon, with extra elements added to the Quay, North Street and John Street.

Chamber President Niall Bennett said: ‘It is the intention of the Chamber to improve the festive lighting scheme each year by investing in new pieces and extending the lighting scheme in the town.’

Rosbercon has received €3,200 worth of new Christmas lights thanks to all who contributed to the ‘Back to the Hop’ 2015 event organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Jenny Murphy O’Neill.

‘Back to the Hop’ 2016 will take place in the Brandon House Hotel on Saturday, November 26, and promises to be another great event.

Following a competitive tender process for the installation and maintenance of the festive lights, the contract for 2016 was awarded to Tricon Securities on the basis of value for money with savings of €20,000.

In addition to the new Christmas look for the town, the new LED lights also afforded a massive saving in running costs by reducing the power consumption by almost 75 per cent.

Chamber CEO Teresa Delaney said: ‘ The festive lights enhance the Christmas experience in New Ross thanks to the generous contributions of the retailers and New Ross Municipal District, who every year fund the Christmas Lights and Nollaig Festival.’
