Sexual assault case put back

-

A MAN in his sixties attended the District Court to meet four charges of sexual assault.

Also at the courthouse in Gorey was the young woman who alleged offences in two locations, four and more years ago.

However, no progress was possible in the case after defence barrister Jordan Fletcher looked for production of documents.

He wanted to see the contents of a social work file on the complainant.

Judge Cheatle was told that Tusla, the child and family support agency, had declined to release the file to the defence without the consent of the woman.

The case was put back to September 20 as the judge advised Mr Fletcher to have his briefing solicitor write formally to the gardaí asking them to request in writing the release of documents.
