FREE COOKERY CLASSES

We have one week left of our free cookery classes in Raheen Family Resource Centre on Mondays, from 10 a.m. 1 p.m. This initiative is part of Raheen Family Resource Centre Community Heart Project. The focus of the programme is heart healthy, quick, delicious food which can be prepared on a budget and will appeal to all the family. The classes are open to all and people are free to come along on any of the next three Mondays.

SUMMER CAMPS

We still have a small number of spaces on our summer Camps in Raheen Family Resource Centre. The Camps take plane on the following dates:

July 10 to July 14 for 10- to 12-year-olds, July 17 to July 21 for seven- to nine-year-olds, and July 24 to July 28 for four- to sixyear-olds.

We will have a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, pottery, macramé, collage and much more. The cost of the camps is €30 per child and family rates apply. For further informatio­n and booking contact Bridget at 051 428805.

MARTIAL ARTS CAMPS

We still have a small number of places on the Free martial arts summer Camp for 13-16 year olds in Adamstown, this camp takes place from July 24 to July 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

The camp will consist of learning all aspects of martial arts in a fun and safe environmen­t. Participan­ts will learn self-defence, self-awareness, boxercise and lots more.

There will also be lots of fun and games which will promote team building and confidence. The camp will be delivered by John Philips, who has a fourth Degree Black Belt. For further informatio­n contact 051 428805.

ADAMSTOWN SHOW

All roads lead to Adamstown next Saturday, July 1, for the 70th annual Agricultur­e, Horticultu­ral, Trade and Vintage Show. The officers and show committee have left no stone unturned to make this year’s event the best ever.

The committee are very appreciati­ve for the use of Coláiste Abbain for all the indoor classes, as always.

There are 222 classes in total to be judged and 38 valuable cups and trophies to be won. The show also features €1,500 Tattersall­s and Redmills Thoroughbr­ead Brood Mare Championsh­ip, Coolmore Puissance with €2,000 prize fund, Cooney-Furlong 1.10 with €1,000 prize money, the €500 plus Shannon Stone Trophy for Search for a Star, sponsored by Slaney Foods, Byrne Bros. Agri Contractor­s Young Riders 1M with €300 prize money.

There will also be showjumpin­g, sheep judging, trade stands and vintage display. There will be various amusement stands, a dog show and hunt chase. A selection of hot and cold refreshmen­ts will be available all day and Dollys butter and jam will be on sale. South East Radio will be broadcasti­ng from the event, this is kindly sponsored by Whitfield hospital.

Admission is €8 for adults, OAPs and students €5, under-12s free. There will be free paring in the show field and the adjacent field for over 1,000 vehicles. Please attend your local show for a great day out for all the family, thank you for your support.
