Academy club hit the bullseye for hospital

-

THE children of Rathgarogue Cushinstown scored more than a bullseye recently when they raised €200 for the Community Hospital.

A member of the club, Bridin Moloney, said the money had been raised by the Under 12 academy who had organised an inflatable darts competition during the Fittest Family day at the club.

‘This is the first year of the academy and we were delighted with how it went’, said Bridin.

‘When we were holding the competition we looked at a number of different local and national charities. Some of the kids have grandparents in the community hospital and often visit them there so we felt it was a very fitting charity.

‘The children wanted to give something back and by choosing the community hospital they could see where their money went as well. It’s a charity that is close to everyone’s heart I think and the choice of it went down well with everyone.

‘Everyone knows someone that has benefited from the outstanding care given by the staff at the hospital to all the residents there.

‘All the under 12 children took part in the competition and we had great craic on the day. Some of them showed great promise as darts players too!’, she said.

Bridin said that the inaugural under 12 academy had been an outstanding success overall and it is sure to produce some future GAA stars.
