Funding of €40,000 for Wexford childcare projects

Funding of €40,126 has been made available by Government to help improve the quality of school age childcare in Wexford.

The 10 Wexford projects awarded funding are Paisti Beaga Community Centre, Our Lady’s Island, €2,008.81; Horeswood Community Childcare, Ballyfarna­gue, Campile, New Ross, €5,000; Little Giggles Playschool, Killahard Blackwater, €4,985.48; Little Acorns - Kilmuckrid­ge Community & Family Resource Centre Health Centre, Kilmuckrid­ge, €4,014.

FAB Huggie Bears, FAB Community and Family Resource Centre, Coolcotts, Wexford, €5,000; Junglebox Childcare Centre, FDYS, Waterloo Road, Wexford, €3,500; Crossabeg Childcare Centre, Sion, Crossabeg, €4,935; Tir na nOg Childcare Facility, St.Mary’s National School, Tagoat, €3,120; Bunclody Project Market Square, Bunclody, €4,422 and A Place to Grow, Adamstown Community Centre, €3,141.

Minister Paul Kehoe said the latest funding builds on the recent allocation of €153,000 to help new and existing services to increase the number of childcare places that they provide in Wexford.

He said that in total Wexford is receiving €193,000 in funding this summer alone to increase capacity and improve the quality of childcare services.
