GREYHOUNDS

-

THIS WEEK’S Ocean Food Unraced Bitch Stake final at Enniscorthy Dog Track looks like a cracking race, and the sponsors must be very pleased with the way their stake has turned out with some potential star bitches on show.

The Maria Byrne (Carrick-on-Suir)owned Dysert Michelle remains unbeaten through the stake and has improved nicely, winning her semi from the inside box when leading and running out a comfortable five and a half length winner in a good 29.17.

The second semi saw owner Paddy Kehoe’s Forest Rita overcome the tricky trap six box, unlike her sister in the previous race who completely missed the kick from trap five and did well to qualify.

Rita made no mistake however, leading to the first bend from Pinpama Girl who chased her hard all the way but was three and a half lengths shy at the line in a good 29.00.

The draw has worked out well for most in the final and as I said it should be a cracker.

The Tagalong Roy A1/2 Stake semis were run on Thursday night and there was a fitting winner of the first when Tagalong Hawkeye, owned by Dermot Flynn who bred the prolific winning Tagalong Roy, scored with his own prolific winner.

The giant Tagalong Hawkeye was winning his 17th race.

This 87/88 pounder has been placed 41 times from 58 starts and is giving Dermot great sport, with yet another final appearance this week.

The other semi went to the early pacer Headford Iso, owned by George Roche of Barntown, who recorded a fast 28.66 and will be the one to beat on that run.

The annual Pettitt’s night this Thursday will be a big event as always and the semi-final of their stake was run.

The Brendan Frayne (Wexford town)- owned Honest Suckle returned to top form to take the first semi, getting up to beat Daniels Dream by a neck in a good 28.98. This will be a competitive final also.

The Pettitt’s night is always a great family night out, and with some cracking racing as well, Enniscorthy is the place to be this Thursday night.
