St Joseph’s Ath­letic Club’s an­nual Richie Young 5k Walk/Run will take place on Sun­day, Septem­ber 17, at the Pink Rock. Regis­ter from 11.30 a.m. in the field at the Pink Rock. The walk/run starts at 12 noon and par­tic­i­pants can guess your predicited time to com­plete your run walk. The per­son near­est their pre­dicted time wins.

No watches or phones are al­lowed. Do­na­tions on the day will be di­vided be­tween the Ir­ish Cancer So­ci­ety and the club. There will be a lovely fam­ily at­mos­phere and par­ents are ad­vised to bring their buggy and chil­dren.

Pre­sen­ta­tions of the win­ners will take place in the Parish Pump after­wards where re­fresh­ments will be served. U-12, born 2006 Tue 6-7pm, U-13, born 2005 Tue 5-6pm and U-14, born 2004 Tue 5-6pm.

Academy for all kids aged from 4-years-old to 8-years-old ev­ery Satur­day morn­ing from 12 to 1 p.m.

New mem­bers are more than wel­come to come along to any of the train­ing ses­sions. Chil­dren must regis­ter first be­fore they can train or play with the club. New mem­bers must bring a copy of their birth cer­tifi­cate. All kids must wear run­ners and shin­guards on the Astro Courts.

Fam­i­lies can look for­ward to get­ting a lit­tle help from the State to pay for cen­tre-based child­care this au­tumn when the More Af­ford­able Child­care Scheme starts on Septem­ber 1.

Some low-in­come fam­i­lies who are al­ready re­ceiv­ing a sub­sidy will see it in­creased by up to 50 per cent. Find out more about the scheme at this free in­for­ma­tion ses­sion. This talk should be of in­ter­est to par­ents of early years chil­dren, aged 6 months – 6 year or school go­ing age.
