A ‘Com­mu­nity in Unity’ event to mark World Sui­cide Pre­ven­tion day is due to take place at the Tal­bot Ho­tel to­mor­row ( Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 13) at 7.45 p.m.

This is a free event and open to all and will pro­vide a fo­rum of hope and heal­ing, with a par­tic­u­lar em­pha­sis on those among us who have been be­reaved by sui­cide.

It will be an evening of song and mu­sic, a shar­ing of per­sonal sto­ries and re­flec­tions of hope.

Or­gan­is­ers are hop­ing that many or­gan­i­sa­tions and in­di­vid­u­als from com­mu­ni­ties, ed­u­ca­tion, men­tal health ser­vices, and other in­ter­ested groups will at­tend to ex­plore new ways to stem the tide of self-harm and sui­cide in County Wex­ford.

Singers and Mu­si­cians for the evening in­clude: The South­East Wed­ding Singers, Rachel Grace, Ea­monn Parker, Natalia Cullen and Shane Ryan.

Speak­ers in­clude: Paddy Cum­mins, Na­tional Co­or­di­na­tor of Liv­ing Links – an out­reach sup­port or­gan­i­sa­tion for fam­i­lies and friends be­reaved by sui­cide, Davy Hynes - found­ing mem­ber of ‘It’s Good 2 Talk’ and Kay Quinn - ‘ Touched by Sui­cide’, En­nis­cor­thy.

The pre­sen­ter will be Tony Walsh, co-au­thor of ‘Un­der­stand­ing Sui­cide’ (Cur­rach Press, 2015)
