Dog fouling is ‘out of control’

-

DOG fouling on the streets of New Ross has gone barking mad.

This is the view of Cllr Michael Sheehan who called for community wardens to be drafted in ahead of Christmas to clean up the town. He said: ‘ The town is absolutely destroyed again. It’s a public health issue as well as a public litter issue.’

Cathaoirleach Cllr Willie Fitzharris said: ‘I have to agree with Cllr Sheehan. It’s not acceptable; people have to look at themselves.’

Cllr Sheehan asked if a bye law can be introduced to ban dogs from certain streets in the town, including South Street. Cllr Fitzharris said, as a dog lover, he couldn’t go along with that proposal. ‘Are you going to let them crap on the paths?’ Cllr Sheehan enquired. Cllr John Fleming jokingly asked about a street cat ban.
